VISA

Non-residents of the Macau Special Administrative Region are required to possess a valid passport and “entry permit” or “visa” for entry to Macau, except for people prescribed by certain law, administrative regulation or international document.

Macau is either visa free or visa-upon-arrival for most of the countries. Only visitors from Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam are required to apply for a Macau visa in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate.

Visitors from Mainland China can apply for a Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau (EEP) to travel to Macau for up to seven days at your city authority.


To Macau

  • By Air

    There are many direct flights from different countries and regions in Asia to Macau. Macau has the direct flights to the following destinations: Bangkok, Busan, Cebu, Chiang Mai, Clark, Da Nang, Fukuoka, Hanoi, Jarkata, Kuala Lumpur, Kaohsing, Sihanouk, Songapore, Manila, Osaka, Phnom Penh, Seoul, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taichung, Tokyo, Pattaya, and other 21 major cities in Mainland China, such as Beijing, Shanghai & Chengdu.

    Please note:

    (1) After arriving at HKIA, delegates need to purchase a ferry ticket from HKIA to Macau.

    (2) After arriving at Zhuhai Airport, delegates need to arrive in Macau by land (through the Barrier Gate near Gongbei or the Hengqin Port).

  • By Water

    Please note:

    • Sailing schedules and fares being provided in the website are subjected to change.

    • Delegates do not have to cross the HK immigration and pick up their luggage if they opt to ride a ferry from HKIA to Macau Ferry Terminal.

    • There is a 60-minute luggage handling time, that is, delegates have to purchase a ferry ticket from HKIA to Macau at least 60 minutes before the departure of the ferry so that enough time is given for the staff to transfer the luggage from aircraft to ferry.

  • By Land

    • From Guangdong

      There are two main gateways from Macau to Guangdong Province. One is the Barrier Gate near Gongbei, and the other is the Hengqin Port.

      Barrier Gate, located at the northern end of the Macau is the main entry gate to Zhuhai in Guangdong Province. It is the gate by which travelers enter mainland China. Actually, all bus services operating between Macau and Guangzhou pass through this gate. All travelers are required to have the same travel documents (e.g., your valid passport and Chinese visa) which are required when entering China via other cities such as Beijing, Shanghai or others.

      Gongbei Border, nine kilometers away from Zhuhai city's government center, is a Chinese border immigration checkpoint. It connects Macau to the south and several hundred meters from its counterpart, the Barrier Gate.

    • From Hong Kong

      Visitors from Hong Kong can also take Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau-Bridge (HZMB) bus to Macau (HZMB Frontier Post at Macau Port). (https://www.hzmbus.com/)

      The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge (HZMB) is a 55-kilometre bridge–tunnel system consisting of a series of three cable-stayed bridges, an undersea tunnel, and four artificial islands. It is both the longest sea crossing and the longest open-sea fixed link in the world. The HZMB spans the Lingding and Jiuzhou channels, connecting Hong Kong, Macau, and Zhuhai—three major cities on the Pearl River Delta in China.

  • Bus

    There are several buses to the University of Macau: 71/71S/72/73/73s and a night bus N6.

    Public buses operate frequently throughout Macau, Taipa, and Coloane. Buses have onboard stop notifications in Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese and English.

    Price: MOP 6.00 in cash / MOP 3.00 with a Macau Pass.
